Designer Hee Soo Kim’s SYSTEM Spring 2025 collection, presented on the official Paris calendar, showcases a polished parade of coed looks that seamlessly blend romance and commercial appeal. Inspired by the idea of first love and loss, the collection, titled “Summer Love,” features soft suits, fluid tailoring for both genders, fuzzy knits, monochrome modern suiting with loose trousers and high-collared jackets, and paper bag-waist pants.
The neutral palette of creams, chocolate, and sand anchors the collection, steering clear of saccharine sweetness. Kim’s signature harder leather and structural looks take a backseat this season, replaced by softer shoulders, voluminous sleeves, and wisps of layered fabric that billow with each step, symbolizing flower petals blowing away in the breeze.
Floral prints make a strong appearance on dark denim, used for boxer shorts on women and bombers on men. Key looks for women include track pants paired with a bra top and open jacket, or a body suit tucked into a tweed pencil skirt. Men’s ensembles feature waffle knits and striped separates.
The collection’s avant-garde edge is intentionally toned down as SYSTEM prepares to open its first flagship in Paris, aiming to make its smart staples widely accessible to its growing customer base. With a petal-cut minidress followed by the same material in a men’s jacket, it’s clear that the young SYSTEM customer shares the same codes regardless of gender.
