Designer Danielle Guizio teams up with PUMA once again to unveil a timeless black and white version of the iconic Speedcat sneaker. Known for her independent New York City-based brand, Guizio brings her unique touch to the PUMA Speedcat low-top, emphasizing premium materials and subtle design enhancements.
Following her initial release of the friends and family Speedcat Mesh in a lime and cream colorway, this new collaboration presents the sneaker in smooth leather. The monochromatic design highlights the Speedcat’s racing inspired silhouette, with black leather embodying the tarmac of a F1 circuit and a contrasting white PUMA formstrip adding a classic touch. A discreet “Guizio” tab on the upper gives a subtle nod to the partnership.
Originally introduced in 1999 for the world of Formula 1 racing, the PUMA Speedcat was brought back from the archives in June 2024. Since its comeback, the sneaker has skyrocketed in popularity, becoming a favorite in fashion and sneaker culture. Guizio’s minimalist approach aligns with this renewed appreciation for the Speedcat’s authentic form.
While some recent iterations have featured bold upgrades, Guizio’s design stays true to the essence of the sneaker. The updates are understated yet impactful, incorporating premium leather, refined paneling and minimal branding. This simplicity resonates with enthusiasts who value classic style without unnecessary embellishments.
The latest PUMA Speedcat x Danielle Guizio will be available at select PUMA retailers and the new GUIZIO flagship store at 81 Greene Street in New York City starting November 9, 2024.
