adidas Adizero athletes led the way in Paris, winning more gold medals and securing more podium finishes in the sprint and marathon races than any other footwear. This achievement solidifies the Adizero family as the most successful footwear collection in adidas‘ 75-year history of innovation for elite athletes.
Alberto Uncini Manganelli, Global GM of adidas Running and Specialist Sports, expressed his excitement: “A huge message of congratulations to our incredible athletes, and the teams that have supported them to achieve these phenomenal results. Seeing what they’ve accomplished, we have never felt more confident in our running franchise than we do today. From the fastest sprint to the quickest marathon, Adizero has truly shaped the story of elite running as told in Paris, thanks to the relentless drive of our athletes, powered by the unwavering pursuit of innovation by our engineers and designers.“
In the fastest events – the 800m and sprint distances – adidas athletes wearing Adizero footwear dominated, winning 5 of the 12 gold medals. This included victories in the men’s 100m, men’s 110m hurdles, men’s and women’s 400m and men’s 800m. Specifically, in the men’s sprint distances of 400m and below, Adizero athletes accounted for 60% of all possible gold medals in individual events.
These athletes wore Adizero Prime SP 3 Strung and Adizero Prime SP 3 Strung x Y3 spikes, including the custom pair worn by Noah Lyles in his electrifying 100m victory. These shoes are backed by leading Adidas proprietary technologies, such as the cushioning and responsiveness benefits of Lightstrike Pro in the forefoot and the cocoon-like comfort and support of the Strung upper.
Adizero’s impact was equally significant in the marathon races of the tournament. Adizero athletes won 50% of the gold medals and secured 50% of the available podium spots. Notable performances included Tamirat Tola’s record-breaking time of 2:06:26, Tigist Assafa’s stunning silver medal on the final day of competition, and Benson Kipruto’s courageous bronze medal. This follows a great season for athletes wearing Adizero, with victories such as Peres Jepchirchir and Alexander Mutiso’s wins in London, Sisay Lemma’s commanding performance in Boston, and Benson Kipruto’s success in the Japanese capital earlier this year.
All medal winners wore the ADIZERO Adios Pro Evo 1, the lightest marathon world record winning shoe of all time. With this shoe, adidas athletes broke two world records and won 19 major races, including one Olympic record, four national records, four course records and the world’s fastest marathon debut. Since 2023, athletes wearing Adizero have won 51% of the world’s top 50 races, more than all others combined.
