At Evo 2024 in Las Vegas, Bandai Namco Entertainment and Nike officially unveiled a collaborative Nike Air Foamposite One collection inspired by the upcoming fighting game Tekken 8.
The news follows earlier leaks that sent ripples through the sneaker community. Attendees at Evo, a premier fighting game tournament, weren’t just there to witness Street Fighter 6 battles or witness the return of Mortal Kombat 1. They were eager for a closer look at the rumored Tekken 8 x Nike Air Foamposite One collection, and Nike did not disappoint.
The official reveal wasn’t just for one shoe, but two. The Nike Air Foamposite One “Kazuya Mishima” (aka “Fist”), inspired by the game’s antagonist, was formally introduced. But the real surprise was the unveiling of a second shoe – the “Jin Kazama” colorway, representing the game’s protagonist.
Both sneakers boast a release date slated for this September, aligning with previous rumors. While an exact date remains under wraps, the price tag for each pair is confirmed to be $250.
Evo attendees weren’t just treated to a visual breakdown of the collaboration. They were also given an exclusive opportunity to purchase the Tekken 8 x Nike Air Foamposite One “Kazuya Mishima” (style code FQ9050-400) through a limited-edition SNKRS Stash drop. This feature on the Nike SNKRS app required users to be physically located within a designated area to unlock the purchase option.
The exclusivity, however, has fueled a resale market frenzy. Listings for the “Kazuya Mishima” sneakers on platforms like eBay and GOAT are already hovering between a staggering $800 and $1,000.
This collaboration marks another busy chapter for the Nike Air Foamposite One in 2024. Just a day before the Tekken 8 reveal, the coveted Comme des Garçons Homme Plus “Cat Eye” collaboration dropped. Additionally, Penny Hardaway’s iconic royal blue colorway is poised for a fall return.
The fighting doesn’t stop in the real world, though. The Tekken 8 x Nike Air Foamposite One collection will also be making its way into the digital realm of the game itself, as confirmed by the official Tekken Instagram account.
