Polestar has well and truly set the Goodwood Festival of Speed ablaze with the global debut of the Polestar Concept BST. This electric monster serves as a no-holds-barred glimpse into the future of the brand’s performance aspirations, pushing the boundaries of what a high-voltage roadster can be.
The BST, a name derived from “beast,” isn’t shy about its intentions. Bespoke bodywork sculpted from gleaming motorsport silver wraps around the car, its muscular fenders housing wide tracks and imposing 22-inch forged alloy wheels. A vented hood cuts a purposeful line through the aerodynamically optimized bonnet, framed by an aggressive front splitter that screams performance. The rear follows suit, sporting an extreme wing that completes the picture alongside bespoke racing livery-inspired graphics.
The Polystar Concept BST is a tangible representation of the forthcoming Polestar 6, slated for production in 2026. While details remain scarce, Polestar has confirmed a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive layout with a blistering 0-62 mph time of 3.2 seconds. This powerhouse shares its platform, the bespoke bonded-aluminum Polestar Performance Architecture (PPA), with the four-door Polestar 5 that made a camouflaged appearance at Goodwood last year. Notably, both the 5 and 6 utilize an 800-volt architecture for rapid charging, ensuring the adrenaline rush doesn’t end prematurely.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed serves as the perfect stage for the BST’s dynamic debut. Polestar’s own engineering manager of vehicle dynamics, Chris Baguely, will have the distinct honor of piloting the car up the legendary 1.2-mile hill climb. With only a handful of people having driven the 6 Concept so far, including CEO Thomas Ingenlath, Baguely is in for a truly exclusive experience.
Intriguingly, the BST name could hold clues about Polestar’s future performance aspirations. In 2022, we saw the Polestar 2 BST 270, a pumped-up version of the brand’s existing offering. The trend continued in 2023 with the limited-edition Polestar 2 BST 230. Could BST become the badge of choice for future Polestar performance flagships?
One thing is certain: Polestar is making a powerful statement at Goodwood. With a growing lineup that includes the sporty Polestar 2 hatchback alongside the brand new SUVs and the dramatic Concept BST, Polestar is proving it’s a force to be reckoned with in the electric performance arena.
