Nike is set to release a new iteration of the Air DT Max ’96, this time paying homage to Deion Sanders’ early NFL career with the Atlanta Falcons. The shoe’s upper features a black nubuck overlay with a shredded design, allowing a silver-gray tumbled leather to peek through. The same gray hue is seen on the heel, where Sanders’ iconic jersey number 21 is embroidered, a first for the DT Max ’96.
The shoe’s colorway is inspired by the Falcons’ home uniforms, with a mix of black and “Team Anthracite” grey, complemented by sparse red accents on the lining, pull tabs, branding and “21” embroidery on the heel. The subtle swoosh branding on the ankle, heel and midfoot strap adds a touch of elegance to the overall design.
The Air DT Max ’96 “Falcons” is the latest chapter in the Deion Sanders shoe series that has been making waves in the sneaker world this year. With the return of Sanders’ signature line, Nike has pushed the boundaries of retro releases and cleat designs, frequently appearing on both college and NFL fields.
Sanders’ first Nike shoe, the Air Diamond Turf, is expected to be released in February, followed by a new hybrid version of LeBron James’ LeBron 21 sneaker for a summer release.
The release of the shoe is set for November with a price tag of $170 at SNKRS and Nike retailers. The “Falcons” colorway is a welcome addition to the Air DT Max ’96 lineup, which has mostly featured colorways inspired by the Colorado Buffaloes football team, where Deion Sanders has been the head coach since December 2022.
