Swatch and OMEGA have once again collaborated to bring us the latest addition to the MoonSwatch collection, the MISSION TO THE SUPER BLUE MOONPHASE. This new model celebrates the full blue moon on August 19th, the first supermoon of 2024.
The Bioceramic MoonSwatch MISSION TO THE SUPER BLUE MOONPHASE boasts a 42mm case made of Swatch’s patented Bioceramic material, which is a combination of two-thirds ceramic and one-third biosourced material from castor oil. The case is a beautiful shade of light blue, complemented by a fixed, dark-blue bezel with a pulsometer scale, a first for the collection. The pulsometer scale is used to calculate a patient’s pulse and features on certain vintage chronographs from the early- to mid-20th century.
The silver-opaline dial features contrasting blue subdials, giving it a “panda” look that collectors love. The Super-LumiNova hour indices pop out against a darker blue outer track, while a white minute scale adds even more contrast. The multi-shaded blued double-moon-phase display in UV ink is positioned at the 2 o’clock sub dial and is set against a dark celestial background, emitting a blue glow at night.
The watch also features a blue velcro strap with contrasting stitching, mirroring those worn by NASA astronauts to secure their trusty Speedmasters during extraterrestrial missions. The battery cover features a moon in a range of shades of blue, adding to the overall aesthetic of the watch.
The Bioceramic MoonSwatch MISSION TO THE SUPER BLUE MOONPHASE will be available from August 1 to August 19 from 5 pm onward and at selected Swatch boutiques and pop-up stores. As with the entire Bioceramic MoonSwatch collection, only one watch can be purchased per person, per day, and per selected retail outlet, making it a truly exclusive timepiece. Pricing is marked at $310.
