3.PARADIS founder Emeric Tchatchoua’s dream has come true with the launch of his brand’s NBA Capsule collection in collaboration with Mitchell & Ness. The six-piece lineup, dropping Monday, pays homage to the basketball legends who inspired Tchatchoua’s path in fashion, like Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing.
“Basketball has had a huge impact on my identity so I really want to celebrate these people who inspired me, this idea of transcendence, of excellence and being oneself,” Tchatchoua enthused. The collection spans t-shirts, jerseys, shorts and an NBA varsity jacket in silver and black colorways, with accessible sportswear pricing from 70 to 500 euros.
American rapper Fabolous, one of Tchatchoua’s biggest style influences, headlines the collaboration’s campaign. “When I was young I started wearing basketball jerseys because [of him],” the Paris-based designer said. “Thanks to him, I started wearing sneakers and, in fact, just dressing like him.“
To celebrate the launch, 3.PARADIS is opening an immersive 1,200-square-foot pop-up in Paris from Tuesday to August 4th. The space will mix a blue sky, surrealism and a basketball court aesthetic, with a program of matches and panel talks exploring the connection between fashion and sports.
As Paris transforms for the Olympic Games, Mitchell & Ness felt it was “the ideal time to commemorate the resilience, self-transcendence, and pursuit of excellence inherent in sports,” said VP Damon Briggs. “This collaboration not only honors the tradition of athletic achievement but also celebrates the transformative power of sport in inspiring individuals and communities worldwide.”
The 3.PARADIS x Mitchell & Ness NBA Capsule marks another milestone for Tchatchoua, whose 11-year-old label recently won the Special Prize at the ANDAM awards and made its Paris Fashion Week debut. With its democratic pricing and celebration of basketball icons, the collection allows Tchatchoua to share his passion with a wide audience. “It was a way for me to celebrate with everyone, without having an entry barrier for people who are interested in the NBA or in 3.PARADIS.”
