KENT&CURWEN, the venerable British brand, unveiled its Spring 2025 collection at London’s Royal Academy, marking a bold new chapter under creative director Daniel Kearns. The collection seamlessly blends the brand’s heritage with a fresh, youthful energy, reimagining classic preppy staples for a new generation.
Kearns drew inspiration from British school uniforms, giving them a modern twist. The show opened with tailored blazers embellished with 3D rosette appliqués, paired with knife-pleated skirts and slim shorts in navy and charcoal wool. These pieces pay homage to KENT&CURWEN’s roots as a supplier of school uniforms, while pushing the aesthetic forward.
Among the standout pieces in the collection were rugby shirts and cricket sweaters, longtime staples of the brand, reimagined for today’s fashion-conscious consumer. Kearns cleverly incorporated playful details, such as shirts with fake Sharpie scribbles, to add a rebellious edge to traditional prep.
KENT&CURWEN’s Spring 2025 also marked the brand’s first foray into womenswear. Highlights included a burgundy bouclé jumpsuit and a double-breasted chocolate wool riding jacket, both styled with oversized aviator sunglasses for a touch of glamour.
While maintaining its connection to British upper-class style, the collection aims to appeal to a younger, more diverse audience. Kearns explained, “We want to represent London now. We want to make sure we keep the heritage, but it has to feel relevant to a new generation.“
The choice of venue – the Royal Academy – underlined KENT&CURWEN’s commitment to blending tradition with modernity. As the models walked through the sculpture-lined corridors, it was clear that this was not your grandfather’s preparation.
