Renowned designer Haider Ackermann has introduced the first seasonal capsule collection under Canada Goose‘s esteemed heritage label, “Snow Goose by Canada Goose.” This partnership marks a significant moment for both companies, combining traditional craftsmanship with Ackermann’s unique creative vision.
From the outset, the “Snow Goose by Canada Goose” collection demonstrates a deep connection to nature, a theme that resonates throughout the Fall/Winter 2024 collection. Haider Ackermann articulates this inspiration: “Being surrounded by nature allows one to be connected with oneself – it reflects, it inspires, it provokes. It is in this rhythm and energy that we designed this capsule.” This sentiment is evident in the collection’s design elements, which draw from vast and serene landscapes to create garments that offer both functionality and style.
The collaboration features a series of meticulously crafted pieces that honor Canada Goose’s nearly seven decades of heritage. Ackermann revisited the brand’s archives to maintain the essential craftsmanship and practicality that define Canada Goose, while introducing fresh and youthful silhouettes. A standout piece is the Rider parka, an evolution of the iconic Peacekeeper parka from the mid-90s. This modern iteration features oversized proportions, reflective accents, utilitarian pockets, a drawstring waist and side zippers, all crafted from the brand’s signature Arctic Tech fabric. The slubby texture of the parka adds a layer of visual and tactile richness, making it a versatile addition to any winter wardrobe.
Another highlight is the Celestia Jacket, a lighter version of the classic shirt jacket. Made from reflective nylon, it is a nod to the reflective tape that has become synonymous with Canada Goose designs, originally intended for high-visibility workwear. The collection also introduces the Cleria Crew, a chunky wool rib knit that offers a relaxed fit and a meticulously brushed finish for a soft, lived-in feel. The Runic Sweater and Chinook Hybridge add texture and visual interest with their graphic black and white diamond quilted patterns, perfectly complementing the trend for oversized fits.
Haider Ackermann also incorporates sustainable practices into the collection with the organic cotton Orion Tee, which encourages wearers to “secure tomorrow.” This is in keeping with both Ackermann’s and Canada Goose’s commitment to purposeful design. Everyday essentials like the Placid Crew and Wilder Hoodie feature graphic touches that enhance their appeal, ensuring the collection meets a variety of lifestyle needs. The Trek Legging and Volt Turtleneck offer a balance of slim and ultra-thin layers for versatility without compromising comfort or style.
Accessories play an important role in completing the ensemble. The Avalon Hat, inspired by the classic hat of the early 2000s, features internal insulation and exaggerated ear flaps for added warmth and year-round styling options. The range also includes beanies, caps and socks, ensuring that every aspect of the outfit is considered.
The global campaign for the collection, shot by Willy Vanderperre, features actor and activist Ethan Hawke alongside model Julia Nobis. Hawke leads an eclectic cast of individuals who are passionate about various fields such as art, sports and costume design. Through portraits and moving vignettes, the campaign captures the essence of human connection and nature’s influence on creativity and emotion. Ethan Hawke shares his personal connection to nature, saying, “I find that it is important to get out of the city and go for a walk in the woods. After finishing a project, I crave a reset. Anything you can do that gets you out of things that are manmade, that is when life gets very simple and very easy. I was lucky that I found nature, something that I loved, when I was a kid and because of that I’ve stayed a student of the environment my whole life. It has given me a sense of purpose, something that felt like a natural connection to Canada Goose’s values and this collection.”
Haider Ackermann’s role as Canada Goose’s first-ever creative director, announced in May 2024, marks a new chapter for the brand. His seasonal collections, presented twice a year under the “Snow Goose by Canada Goose” label, aim to revive and reinterpret the heritage that has defined the brand since the 1990s. The Fall/Winter 2024 collection is available now at canadagoose.com and select Canada Goose stores worldwide, with additional releases planned throughout December 2024.
