H. Moser & Cie has partnered with Massena LAB to release the limited edition Endeavour Chronograph, a timepiece that pays homage to the brand’s rich heritage while embracing modern innovation. With only 100 pieces available, this exclusive watch is sure to captivate enthusiasts who appreciate the fusion of tradition and contemporary design.
A tribute to timeless craftsmanship
Inspired by the H. Moser & Cie chronographs of the 1940s, the Endeavour Chronograph embodies the essence of traditional watchmaking. Its classic dial configuration features two symmetrically positioned sub-dials at 3 and 9 o’clock. One displays the small seconds, while the other serves as a 45-minute chronograph counter, providing both aesthetic balance and practical functionality. This arrangement is reminiscent of mid-20th century scientific instruments, reflecting a time when precision and elegance were paramount.
Blending heritage and innovation
The Endeavour Chronograph is a journey through the history and secrets of H. Moser & Cie. The inclusion of a tachymeter scale along the edge of the dial allows the precise measurement of ground speed, a feature reminiscent of the practical tools used by pioneers and explorers of bygone eras. The Funky Blue fumé dial, a signature of H. Moser & Cie, adds a vibrant and modern touch, while the historic Moser logo from 1947 adorns the dial, linking past and present.
Design details and technical excellence
Housed in a sleek 41 mm (13.3 mm) stainless steel case, the Endeavour Chronograph exudes understated elegance. The case features a sapphire crystal on both the front and the see-through case-back, allowing a glimpse of the intricate movement inside. The notched crown is adorned with an “M” for a subtle yet distinctive detail.
The timepiece is paired with a hand-stitched brown kudu leather strap, complemented by white stitching reminiscent of features often found on vintage watches. This choice of materials enhances the timeless appeal of the watch and ensures comfort on the wrist. The strap is secured with a steel pin buckle engraved with the H. Moser & Cie logo.
At the heart of the watch is the automatic Manufacture caliber HMC 220, equipped with a chronograph module developed in collaboration with Dubois Dépraz. With a diameter of 32.0 mm and a height of 8.4 mm, the movement beats at a frequency of 21,600 oscillations per hour. With 51 jewels and a bidirectional automatic pawl winding system, it ensures reliable performance. The timepiece has a power reserve of at least three days, thanks to its Original Straumann balance spring. The movement is adorned with Moser stripes, demonstrating its meticulous finish.
Exceptional readability and functionality
All the technical elements on the dial, including the numerals, the tachymeter scale, the chronograph graduations, the sub-dials and the leaf-shaped hour and minute hands, are filled with Super-LumiNova®. This luminescent treatment guarantees perfect legibility in all lighting conditions, which is crucial in situations where reliable timekeeping is essential.
The joint vision with Massena LAB
The Endeavour Chronograph represents a unique partnership between H. Moser & Cie and Massena LAB. William Massena, renowned for his in-depth knowledge of vintage watchmaking, made a significant contribution to the design. “Marrying the maximalist vintage aesthetic of the past with the radical minimalism at the heart of modern-day H. Moser & Cie was a challenge,” Massena explained. “The resulting Endeavour Chronograph is a watch which links the past and present, whilst looking firmly towards the future.“
Founded by William Massena, Massena LAB is a creative watchmaking studio dedicated to the design and production of timepieces, often in collaboration with esteemed watchmakers around the world. The “LAB” stands for both “laboratory,” reflecting their commitment to experimentation and new ideas, and “collaboration,” emphasizing their fruitful partnerships. Massena LAB aims to honor and contribute to the evolution of watchmaking culture by integrating elements of past styles to enhance the future of watchmaking.
A bridge between the past and the present
Edouard Meylan, CEO of H. Moser & Cie, shared his perspective: “The Endeavour Chronograph model is a timeless statement, a bridge between the past and the present, and a wonderful illustration of the ability of both brands to push the boundaries of innovation while celebrating the watchmaking heritage of H. Moser & Cie”.
Limited to just 100 pieces, the Endeavour Chronograph embodies the spirit of exploration and discovery, like a precious artifact unearthed from history. The timepiece exemplifies H. Moser & Cie’s unique approach to haute horlogerie, combining the finest traditions with contemporary innovation.
