Texas Tech Red Raiders football is about to get a major style upgrade with a historic twist. In partnership with adidas and their star alumnus, Patrick Mahomes, the Red Raiders have unveiled a brand new uniform – the first in college athletics to feature a player’s personal logo.
The “Mahomes Strategy” uniform features a sleek design with a Dark Grey base with metallic foil accents and bold Power Red highlights. Inspired by the angular lines of Texas Tech’s campus architecture and Mahomes’ signature “Gladiator” logo, the helmet, logos and numbers shimmer with a galvanized metallic finish.
“Seeing my own logo on the Texas Tech uniform I poured my heart and soul into is incredibly special,” said Mahomes, a proud Texas Tech alum. “Huge thanks to the adidas family for this unique opportunity.”
This innovative uniform is the latest chapter in a groundbreaking partnership between adidas, Mahomes and Texas Tech. This collaboration has consistently pushed the boundaries of collegiate athletics and the new Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) landscape.
The Texas Tech x Patrick Mahomes collection extends beyond the uniform, offering fans a range of dark gray apparel including a quarter-zip, fleece hoodie, and a special edition Ultraboost 5X – all emblazoned with the iconic Gladiator logo.
This partnership isn’t the first time adidas and Mahomes have broken new ground. Back in 2019, Mahomes famously wore a handwritten adidas logo over a competing brand while cheering on Texas Tech basketball.
The Red Raiders become the first adidas collegiate partner to integrate an athlete’s logo into their uniform, solidifying Mahomes’ status as a powerhouse brand in the world of sports. “There’s no athlete better at leveraging his talent than Patrick Mahomes,” said Aaron Seabron, General Manager at adidas. “Working with him to establish the ‘Mahomes Brand’ is a prime example of what collaboration can achieve.”
Fans can purchase licensed apparel from the Texas Tech x Patrick Mahomes collection at adidas.com/us/Texas_Tech, local retailers and online partners. The Red Raiders will take the field for the first time in their new uniforms on November 9 when they host the Colorado Buffaloes at a sold-out Jones AT&T Stadium.
