Reebok is synonymous with classic silhouettes. From the iconic basketball dominance of the Pump and the Kamikaze to the timeless tennis heritage of the Club C, the English brand has carved a niche in footwear history. But Reebok isn’t afraid to push boundaries. Since the early 2000s, they’ve maintained a parallel line of futuristic tech-runners, offering a glimpse into the world of performance footwear innovation.
In 2020, this innovative spirit collided with the resurgence of Y2K trends. The result? The return of the long-dormant Premier Road line, reintroduced in a revamped form – the Premier Road Modern. While it didn’t quite capture mainstream attention like the New Balance 1906R or other 2000s throwbacks, the Premier Road Modern found a dedicated following within the “gorpcore” aesthetic, a movement celebrating technical outdoor apparel with a contemporary twist.
Building on this momentum, they’re introducing a brand new addition to the Premier Road family: the Premier Road Ultra. This exciting new model retains the sole of the Premier Road Modern, renowned for its technical prowess. However, the upper undergoes a complete transformation. Gone is the TPU cage and intricate detailing of the Modern. The Ultra embraces a more traditional aesthetic, utilizing a familiar yet effective combination of mesh, leather, and synthetic materials. This shift reflects a growing consumer preference for bolder, more visually striking designs that prioritize chunky tooling over sleek minimalism.
The debut of the Premier Road Ultra promises a diverse color palette, with the initial offering featuring a captivating “Soft Pink/Grey” combination. Blue and tan accents add a touch of vibrancy while maintaining a muted overall feel.
While select retailers have scheduled a late June release for the Premier Road Ultra, an official drop date on Reebok’s website remains under wraps.
