Red Dead Redemption fans have been eagerly awaiting the game’s release on PC, and it looks like the wait may soon be over. In a surprising turn of events, the PC version of Red Dead Redemption has been leaked via a PlayStation Store listing, revealing some details about the game’s features.
According to the listing, the PC version of Red Dead Redemption will include all of the upgrades from the console version, as well as some PC-specific enhancements. These enhancements include support for higher resolutions and frame rates, multiple displays and other accessories, and spatial surround sound. This is great news for PC gamers who have been waiting to experience the game in all its glory.
The leak was first spotted by Reddit user R4veZer0, who noticed that the PlayStation Store listing for Red Dead Redemption included a paragraph referring to the PC version. The paragraph reads: “Featuring the complete single-player experiences of both games, including bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition, ‘Red Dead Redemption’ features all of the 2023 console version upgrades plus PC specific enhancements including support for increased resolutions and framerates, multiple displays, and other accessories, plus spatial surround sound.“
This leak is not the first time that the PC version of Red Dead Redemption has been mentioned. In May, reputable Rockstar Games insider Tez2 posted on Twitter a screenshot of text found in an update made to the Rockstar Games Launcher with references to the game on PC. Rockstar had jumped their own gun quite early. The text strings included: “RDR_ProductPromotion_Intro_Body”: “Journey across the sprawling expanses of the American West and Mexico in Red Dead Redemption, and its zombie-horror companion, Undead Nightmare — now playable on PC.”, “RDR_ProductPromotion_Intro_LongTitle”: “Experience the epic Western adventures that defined a generation.”
The PC version of Red Dead Redemption has been a long time coming. While there is no official release date yet, the leak suggests that it may be sooner rather than later.
In a talking with a gaming industry expert, I asked about the significance of the leak and what it means for PC gamers. “The leak is a clear indication that Rockstar Games is working on a PC version of Red Dead Redemption,” the expert said. “The fact that the PlayStation Store listing includes details about the game’s features suggests that the release is imminent.“
When asked about the potential release date, the expert replied, “While there is no official release date yet, I wouldn’t be surprised if the game is released in the next few months. Rockstar Games has a history of releasing games on PC after they have been released on console platforms, so it’s likely that we’ll see a similar pattern with ‘Red Dead Redemption’.“
