With Halloween just around the corner, Nike unveils an intriguing addition to its spooky season lineup: the Nike Zoom Vomero 5 “Spider,” a kids exclusive that captures the spirit of the holiday. This iteration of the Vomero 5 goes beyond simple color schemes, embracing a spider theme that’s sure to resonate with young sneakerheads.
The “Spider” showcases a “Photon Dust/Black/Vapor Green/Black” colorway, but its true appeal lies in the intricate details. The upper, made of breathable Photon Dust mesh, features black and bone overlays that create a sense of depth. The use of shaggy black suede on the upper is reminiscent of a spider’s texture, while iridescent lace laces bear a striking resemblance to glistening spider eyes. Black overlays etched with web-like grooves further enhance the arachnid motif.
What really sets this sneaker apart are the details that come alive in the dark. The Zoom Vomero 5 “Spider” features glow-in-the-dark elements on the midsole, tongue and midfoot cage for an unexpected twist on the design. Reflective accents, a signature element of the Y2K-era running shoe, add to the sneaker’s visual appeal.
While the Zoom Vomero 5 debuted in 2011 as a high-performance running shoe, it has since become a lifestyle favorite, especially after its retro revival in 2018. The “Spider” edition is expected to be released in October, priced at $110 and only available in elementary school sizes, but it’s possible the Vomero 5 “Spider” could be released for adults as well.
