The upcoming release Nike BOOK 1 Python signals that the release pace for Devin Booker’s first signature shoe is regaining momentum. The sneaker world got its first glimpse of the “Python” during the recent NY v. NY tournament. The shoe sports an all-over python print, a gum bottom, and is accented with off-white detailing on the laces, sock liner, pull tab, and midsole.
This isn’t the first time Booker’s signature shoe has featured reptilian accents. The motif first appeared subtly on his debut “Chapter 1” shoe and continued with releases like the “Hike” and “Rattlesnake” BOOK 1s. The “Python,” however, showcases this theme more prominently, covering the entirety of the shoe’s upper.
Details about the shoe’s official release are still under wraps, but with the “Lilac Bloom” edition slated for a July 18th release, the “Python” seems a likely contender for its successor. The fact that the Watson squad sported the “Python” during the NY v. NY matchup suggests that this eye-catching shoe will be available to the public and not just a Player Exclusive.
The “Python” draws inspiration from classic Swoosh silhouettes like the Air Force 1 and Air Jordan 1, featuring a similar shape and profile. The cream accents found throughout the shoe and on the laces provide a clean contrast to the python print, while the tongue tag, which reads “Chapter One,” and the pull tab, featuring Booker’s birth year, “96,” add personal touches. Constructed with Zoom Air cushioning and a full-length Cushlon 2.0 foam, the shoe prioritizes comfort. The Nike BOOK 1 Python is expected to drop sometime in September.
