The Nike Air Max Dn “Canyon Rust” has caused quite a stir in the footwear community. Originally teased as a collaboration with UK retailer Size?, the “Canyon Rust” is actually a mainline rework of the standard Air Max Dn. The confusion arose because Size? was the first to unveil this updated design, with their exclusive cream and mauve colorway.
This new iteration does away with the multi-layered mesh typically seen on the Air Max Dn, opting instead for a red-brown ripstop nylon construction. Embroidered wavy linear patterns add durability and structure, mimicking the look of tactile print overlays. The leather fender, plastic toe cap, and TPU panels are rendered in lighter earth tones, creating a luxurious two-tone contrast to the reddish-brown upper.
One of the most notable changes is the use of solid color to hide the typical see-through windows of the Dynamic Air units in the rear, while still maintaining the shoe’s signature ultra-cushioned feel. A durable rubber outsole, with a modern take on the iconic waffle sole pattern, provides excellent traction for everyday wear.
The Nike Air Max Dn “Canyon Rust” is a significant departure from the futuristic, tech-focused marketing that introduced the silhouette to the public earlier this year. This new version embraces a more vintage aesthetic, drawing inspiration from Nike’s sustainability-focused Considered series from the mid-2000s.
The Air Max Dn “Canyon Rust” is available through SNKRS and partner retailers for $180.
