Jaeger-LeCoultre, the renowned Swiss watchmaker, brings its captivating exhibition “The Precision Pioneer” to Beijing this September. From the 14th of September to the 3rd of October 2024, watch enthusiasts and the general public alike can explore the intricate world of haute horlogerie at WF Central in Dongcheng.
This free exhibition showcases Jaeger-LeCoultre’s unwavering commitment to precision, a cornerstone of the brand’s philosophy since its inception in 1833. Visitors will embark on a journey through four main themes: The Precision of Production and Decoration, The Precision of Chronometry, The Precision of Regulating Organs, and The Precision of Complications.
The exhibition offers a unique opportunity to witness the artistry and technical mastery behind Jaeger-LeCoultre’s timepieces. Live demonstrations of key watchmaking skills allow visitors to observe the meticulous work of skilled artisans up close. For those eager to try their hand at watchmaking, interactive sessions provide a chance to experience the craft firsthand.
A dedicated cinema space presents the “In the Making” video series, offering an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Jaeger-LeCoultre’s integrated Manufacture. These short films provide insight into rarely seen aspects of the watchmaking process, narrated by the artisans themselves.
Art enthusiasts will appreciate the collaboration with street light-painter Roy Wang, commissioned by Jaeger-LeCoultre as part of its Made of Makers programme. Wang’s hypnotic artworks, blending traditional techniques with cutting-edge technology, will be on display, with live demonstrations scheduled throughout the exhibition.
For collectors and aficionados, “The Collectibles” section presents an array of emblematic mid-20th century models available for purchase. Additionally, visitors can explore and try on pieces from Jaeger-LeCoultre’s current collections in a dedicated room.
The exhibition also marks the world debut of two exceptional new high-complication watches, further cementing Jaeger-LeCoultre’s position at the forefront of watchmaking innovation.
To complement the exhibition, Jaeger-LeCoultre offers Discovery Workshop sessions at their WF Central Boutique. These interactive workshops, part of the Atelier d’Antoine program, provide an in-depth exploration of precision in watchmaking, allowing participants to gain hands-on experience guided by experts.
“The Precision Pioneer” not only celebrates Jaeger-LeCoultre’s rich heritage but also demonstrates the brand’s ongoing commitment to pushing the boundaries of watchmaking. From Antoine LeCoultre’s early innovations to the modern-day 1000-Hour Control protocol, the exhibition illustrates how the pursuit of precision has driven advancements in the art of timekeeping for nearly two centuries.
As visitors explore the exhibition, they’ll gain a deeper appreciation for the intricate balance between cutting-edge technology and time-honored craftsmanship that defines Jaeger-LeCoultre’s approach to watchmaking. The human touch remains essential, infusing each timepiece with a unique character that transcends mere mechanical precision.
Visitors are invited to enrich their experience by pausing to enjoy a complementary refreshment in the Precision Atelier. “The Precision Pioneer” will take place from 14 September until 3 October 2024 at The Green, WF Central in Dongcheng, Beijing and is open to the public free of charge from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM from Monday – Thursday and from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM from Friday – Sunday and holidays.
