As GANT celebrates its 75th anniversary, the iconic brand unveils a collection that pays homage to its rich heritage in American sportswear. This milestone capsule seamlessly blends nostalgia and modernity, offering fashion enthusiasts the opportunity to own reimagined classics from the brand’s extensive archive.
Christopher Bastin, GANT’s creative director, describes the anniversary collection as a “physical manifestation of the brand’s history.” The design team meticulously researched the stories behind each piece and carefully selected 15 items from their vast archive of thousands to recreate for today’s market.
The collection showcases GANT’s evolution through the decades, featuring 1970s-inspired candy-striped shirts and varsity jackets, 1980s nautical themes, and the beloved Rugger shirts that defined 1990s style. Each piece has been thoughtfully updated while retaining the essence of its original design.
A standout piece is a houndstooth twill shirt, a replica of one of GANT’s earliest creations. This piece exemplifies the brand’s commitment to quality and features signature details such as a locker loop, a single button at the back of the collar and a box pleat.
The visual identity of the anniversary launch is inspired by the cinema of the 1980s, considered the golden era of preppy style. A campaign film directed by Matthew Frost stars actor Matt Dillon alongside family band Infinity Song and models Tony Özkan and Eléonore Jeanne, capturing the collection’s blend of nostalgia and contemporary appeal.
GANT’s main Fall/Winter 24 collection complements the anniversary capsule, offering preppy separates, updated classics and collegiate pieces juxtaposed with workwear-inspired pieces. The line features signature color blocks, contrast details and classic shirt stripes, with denim playing a central role.
As the season progresses, the collection embraces outdoor elements, incorporating luxurious shearlings, cozy fleeces and tactile corduroys. Fair Isle patterns add rustic charm, while outerwear and knitwear take center stage for the colder months.
The 75th Anniversary Collection and Fall/Winter 24 line are now available online and in select stores, offering fashion-forward consumers the opportunity to own a piece of American sportswear history reimagined for the future.
