The adidas Ultraboost 5 is a game-changer in the world of running footwear, redesigned from the ground up to provide runners with the highest energy return yet.
The new midsole construction, featuring 9mm more Boost, is the key to the Ultraboost 5’s superior performance. “The Boost-packed midsole offers higher responsiveness and cushioning in the heel and transition, instantly bouncing back to its original shape as a runner’s foot hits the ground. This allows runners to go further while expending the same amount of energy.”
adidas commissioned research that revealed one in five 18–24-year-olds (21%) cite their energy levels as their biggest concern. Dr Eliza Filby, Historian of Generational Evolution, who led the research, states, “The next generation is under a lot of pressure, burnt out, and feels disorientated at the state of the world. Physical exercise like running can often be one of the first things to go when there are so many demands on their energy and time.“
The Ultraboost 5 addresses this issue head-on, with 82% of people who tested it saying they prefer its energy return to their own shoes, and 70% reporting they had more fun while running wearing it. “That’s always been the superpower of Ultraboost,” says Simon Lockett, Footwear Product Marketing Category Director at adidas, “especially now it’s back with more Boost, and a lighter weight than ever before.“
The shoe also features a new adaptive Primeknit upper, offering adaptability and enhanced fit in key zones while maximizing breathability to keep the foot cool throughout the run. Kish notes, “The attention to detail in the Ultraboost 5’s design is impressive, from the re-engineered LIGHT BOOST™ midsole to the adaptive Primeknit upper. It’s clear that adidas has put a great deal of thought into every aspect of this shoe.“
To complement the launch of the Ultraboost 5, adidas has collaborated with nutritionist and adidas Runners Captain, Kiara Mayo, to create energy-rich recipes designed to give runners a pre-run and post-run boost. The brand has also launched an exclusive content series featuring running leaders from around the world, including German fashion blogger and model Caro Daur, Mexican online personality Juan Bertheau, and Brazilian social media personality, model, and influencer Jade Picon, who share their mood-boosting essentials.
The Ultraboost 5 launches for both men and women in a white and grey base with expressive ‘Spark Orange’ and ‘Lucid Pink’ color pops, representing the burst of energy the shoe unlocks. Available from €180, the Ultraboost 5 and the Ultraboost 5X are available in-store and online at adidas.com/running-shoes, with Early Access for members of the adidas adiClub.
