Montblanc presents the 1858 Geosphere 0 Oxygen Chronograph, a limited edition timepiece to celebrate the 80th birthday of legendary mountaineer Reinhold Messner. This exceptional timepiece, limited to 290 pieces, pays tribute to Messner’s groundbreaking achievements in high-altitude mountaineering.
Born in South Tyrol, Italy, in 1944, Reinhold Messner has made his mark on mountaineering history with numerous firsts. He was the pioneer to summit all 14 peaks over 8,000 meters and the first to climb Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen. His daring expeditions to Antarctica, Greenland and the Gobi Desert have inspired generations of adventurers.
The Montblanc 1858 Geosphere 0 Oxygen Chronograph is a technical marvel designed to withstand extreme conditions. Its 44mm lightweight titanium case houses an oxygen-free environment that prevents fogging and oxidation at high altitudes. The watch features a unique red sfumato glacier dial, meticulously crafted to mimic the texture of Antarctic ice formations.
This exceptional timepiece is powered by the Montblanc caliber MB 29.27 automatic manufacture chronograph movement with world time complication. The watch features chronograph functions, rotating globes representing both hemispheres and a day/night indicator.
The caseback features a color engraving of K2, Messner’s favorite 8,000-meter peak, based on a photograph he took during his 1979 ascent. Laser-engraved with a 3D effect, the image captures a moment of triumph and natural beauty.
