The Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games have unveiled a new custom emblem honoring the upcoming Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. This emblem marks a historic moment as Los Angeles prepares to host the Paralympic Games for the first time in 2028.
“The Paralympic flag handover to LA in September will be a momentous occasion, signifying LA’s status as the next Paralympic Games host city,” said LA28 Chief Marketing Officer Amy Gleeson. “To commemorate this milestone, we’re introducing a custom Paralympic Handover emblem, followed by more emblems as we celebrate Paralympians throughout the Paris Games and anticipate an extraordinary handover ceremony that embodies the spirit of the LA28 Games.”
Inspired by the Olympic Handover “A” unveiled on July 22, the custom Paralympic emblem features a distinctive design to honor the transfer of the Paralympic flag from Paris to Los Angeles at the Closing Ceremony on September 8.
The custom Paralympic “A” is the 50th custom design in LA28’s 2020 campaign, which showcases the stories of Angelenos, athletes, artists and activists. Designed as the first evolving mark in the history of the Games, the Los Angeles 2028 emblem represents a diverse collection of voices that reflect the host city’s vibrant culture of creativity, sport, and self-expression.
Set against a static and bold L, 2 and 8 that form the foundation of the mark, the LA28 emblem was built for the digital age with a dynamic and animated “A” that is constantly evolving as we approach the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Throughout the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Los Angeles 2028 released seven new emblems created by athletes and artists. The organization will continue to unveil custom designs throughout the Paralympic Games Paris 2024 to celebrate the handover moment at the Closing Ceremony in September.
