The Lamborghini Temerario arrives as the successor to the iconic Huracán, marking a significant shift for the Italian automaker. Ditching the beloved V-10, the Temerario embraces hybridization with a powerful V-8 engine supplemented by a trio of electric motors. This new powertrain, coupled with a striking aerodynamic design, propels the Temerario into the future of supercars.
A new era of Lamborghini powertrains
At the heart of the Temerario beats a 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8 engine. This powerhouse, with its turbos nestled in a hot-vee configuration, generates a formidable 789 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque, sending power through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Lamborghini engineers meticulously crafted this engine, utilizing lightweight materials like titanium con rods and a flat-plane crankshaft, drawing upon their extensive motorsport experience.
The Temerario’s hybrid system elevates its performance to an exhilarating level. Two electric motors power the front axle, providing all-wheel drive capability and boosting total output to a staggering 907 horsepower. An additional electric motor, strategically positioned between the V-8 and the gearbox, smoothes out gear changes, mitigates turbo lag, and enhances responsiveness. This innovative setup allows the Temerario to achieve a claimed 0-62 mph time of 2.7 seconds while boasting a 50 percent reduction in CO2 emissions compared to its predecessor.
Striking Design and Advanced aerodynamics
The Temerario’s exterior embodies Lamborghini’s signature design language, featuring sharp lines, a low-slung profile, and aggressive hexagonal elements. Large air intakes dominate the front and sides, channeling air to cool the powerful engine and brakes. The rear showcases a fixed spoiler, a centrally positioned exhaust, and a prominent diffuser, all contributing to the car’s aerodynamic prowess.
Inside the cockpit, drivers are greeted by a driver-focused layout with hexagonal air vents, a sporty steering wheel, and high-quality materials throughout. A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster provides vital driving information, while an 8.4-inch central touchscreen handles infotainment and navigation. Lamborghini also offers a range of customization options, allowing buyers to personalize their Temerario through its Ad Personam program.
Although pricing and an official release date remain under wraps, the Temerario is expected to be available in early 2025 with a starting price tag around $290,000.
