Pharrell Williams, the multifaceted artist and entrepreneur, has partnered with evian to launch an exclusive tennis-inspired apparel collection through his brand Humanrace. This collaboration, timed perfectly for the upcoming US Open, showcases Williams’ passion for water and fashion.
The limited-edition, all-gender collection draws inspiration from tennis fashion, featuring oversized T-shirts, quarter zips, and an expandable bag. Prices range from $70 to $195, making the line accessible to a wide range of fashion enthusiasts. The designs incorporate elements that nod to evian’s classic pink, with a pop of lilac adding a fresh twist to the athleisure-style items.
Williams, a self-proclaimed tennis fan, expressed his admiration for the sport’s fashion, particularly from the late 1970s and 1980s. He cited Virginia-born tennis legend Arthur Ashe as a significant influence on his style choices for this collection.
The Humanrace x evian collaboration took six months to develop and was entirely produced in the United States. Rachel Muscat, co-founder and CEO of Humanrace, revealed that the concept of joy served as the primary inspiration for the collection.
Williams previously worked with evian on their “Mountain of Youth” campaign. The campaign featured his song “Joy (Unspeakable),” performed with Voices of Fire, further cementing the connection between Williams’ musical talents and his fashion endeavors.
evian’s decision to collaborate with Williams, who comes from what he describes as a marginalized community, holds special significance for the artist. He views this partnership as more than just a business venture, considering it a dream come true that aligns with his lifelong fascination with water.
The collection’s release coincides with the U.S. Open, where evian has been the official water sponsor for over three decades. This timing underscores the synergy between Williams’ fashion sense, his love for water, and the world of professional tennis.
