As the metaverse and Web3 continue to heat up, Nike‘s .SWOOSH initiative has been making waves in the sneaker community. The program’s goal is to reimagine how consumers interact with products and the brand itself. In 2024, the initiative has delivered some exciting moments, including the RTFKT Dunk Genesis and “404” Air Force 1. Can they do the same again? The next step is a sequel to a 2022 release, bringing back the tongue-in-cheek “This Is Not A JPEG” subhead with the Air Force 1 Low TINAJ B.
The “B” subtitle is well-deserved, as this shoe builds upon the foundation of the first colorway. The tumbled leather upper and circular “THIS IS NOT A JPEG” icon on the heel counter remain from the original pair. However, the colorful forefoot marks a significant divergence from the all-white counterpart. Without official word from Nike, it’s hard to confirm, but the mixed media on those sections (croc-patterned suede, canvas, leather, and heavy fabric all make appearances) reads as an expression of the “glitchy” concept expressed by the Blue Screen of Death insoles. Alternatively, it functions perfectly well as an expression of the procedurally generated artistic aspect of the Our Force 1 project and Nike’s NFT efforts as a whole.
As of writing, concrete release details for the Nike Air Force 1 Low TINAJ B (Style Code: HJ1058-001) are unclear. The first “TINAJ” edition dropped via SNKRS Exclusive Access, with pairs only available to dotSWOOSH members who participated in the “Our Force 1” program.
