The worlds of high fashion and workwear collide as Louis Vuitton and Timberland officially announce the release date for their eagerly awaited footwear collaboration. Slated to pre-launch on July 18 via Louis Vuitton’s website and app, the collection will be available in stores worldwide starting August 8.
“Workwear has always been important to folks in the rap community and our demographic because a lot of times life is cold, and life can be rough and life can be hard, and when you’re enduring all these types of conditions, you want something that’s gonna wear and last,” explained Louis Vuitton menswear creative director Pharrell Williams. “And Timberland, it just makes sense. It’s something that we love, but at the same time, whether you’re like in the ‘hood or you’re like somewhere in a factory, Timberlands, they last long.“
Crafted in Louis Vuitton’s footwear workshop in Fiesso, Italy, the collection features the iconic Timberland work boot reimagined in two core categories – the LV 6-Inch and the LV Boot. The LV 6-Inch closely resembles the classic Timberland silhouette but is elevated with embossed LV Monogram nubuck leather. Available in wheat and black colorways, it boasts Monogram-embossed tongue lining and leather tags.
The LV Boot takes the 6-Inch to new heights, literally, by increasing the volume of the silhouette by 15%. Offered in four styles including an ankle boot, ranger boot, pull-on mid boot and pull-on harness boot, it showcases the impeccable Italian craftsmanship Louis Vuitton is renowned for.
Both the LV 6-Inch and LV Boot are constructed with PrimaLoft insulation, seam-sealed waterproofing, and Timberland’s signature rubber lug outsole for unparalleled durability and performance. Prices range from 2,200 to 2,600 euros.
For the ultimate collectors, a limited edition of 50 LV 6-Inch ankle boots crafted from Monogram Italian leather with 18-karat gold hardware will also be available. Priced at 75,000 euros, they are presented in a bespoke Monogram leather and plexiglass shoebox with natural leather trims.
The collaboration is a natural fit given Louis Vuitton’s close ties to the hip-hop community, with the Timberland boot long favored by rap icons like Wu-Tang Clan, Jay-Z, Tupac Shakur, Kanye West and The Notorious B.I.G. Female stars like Rihanna, Missy Elliott and Aaliyah also helped popularize the workwear staple.
“If you’re going to spend your disposable income at a time like this, it needs to be for something that’s actually really going to last,” Williams noted. The accompanying capsule of workwear-inspired ready-to-wear and accessories, launching August 8, delivers on this promise of enduring style and uncompromising quality.
