Kiko Kostadinov, one of menswear’s most inventive young pattern cutters, presented his Spring 2025 collection on Paris’s historic Rue Férou, drawing inspiration from an unexpected source – hospitals, clinics and laboratories. The 34-year-old designer reflected on how intertwined our lives are with these institutions, especially post-COVID, and how focusing on health in one’s 30s and 40s is key to enjoying the later years.
Kostadinov expanded on his signature design elements, like the diagonal snap-dart construction first seen in his Spring 2018 outerwear, and his subtle “K” exposed darting. He cleverly incorporated references to surgical scrubs, lab coats, and even patient gowns through side and back closures, easy-access pockets, and the use of snaps over buttons or zippers. Prints of alien-looking liposome schematics, a cutting-edge drug delivery method, added a sci-fi touch.
Standout pieces included an asymmetric T-shirt with a striped placket, a smart blazer with slanted pockets, trousers with curving leg seams for a lightly padded look, and a sleek black coat with contrasting cream panels. Kostadinov’s meticulous color work and ability to make complex designs appear unfussy and wearable shone through.
