The new Hennessy X.O Collection by Florian Zumbrunn is a collaboration that promises to captivate your senses. This exclusive release features 40 numbered decanters, each unique and available only in Cognac, France.
A pioneer in generative art and a graduate of the prestigious Les Gobelins school in Paris, Zumbrunn brings his avant-garde vision to this project. His international reputation has been cemented through exhibitions from London to Miami, Paris to Tokyo. “As a generative artist, I paint with code,” he explains. “I blend the old with the new, human gestures with machine output, traditional techniques with lines of code.”
The creation process begins with Zumbrunn programming a series of algorithms that generate random compositions from millions of possible variations. When you visit the Hennessy boutique, you can choose a color palette, preview your design on a tablet, and watch as a state-of-the-art robotic arm, designed by expert Jean-Marie Ollivier, meticulously paints your unique design onto the “second skin” shell that encases the iconic Hennessy X.O decanter.
Earlier this year, Zumbrunn immersed himself in Hennessy’s rich cognac heritage. He was inspired by the fine art of blending eaux-de-vie and met the artisans who continue to make Hennessy X.O using the same recipe created by Maurice Hennessy in 1870. “I was particularly inspired by Hennessy’s mastery of the fine art of blending, and its continuous dialogue between tradition and innovation,” says Zumbrunn.
The “second skin” shell is made entirely of paper pulp, providing an eco-conscious and durable protection for the blend inside. Each decanter is finished with a leather label wrapped around the neck, adding a touch of elegance to the design.
The Hennessy X.O Collection is priced at €1,200 for a 100cl decanter and includes a matching 60x100cm fine art print signed by the artist. Available from December 12, 2024 at the Hennessy Boutique in Cognac, there is also an ordering and shipping service for those unable to visit in person.
