adidas introduces the adidas Superstar “Tokyo Sukajan”, a sneaker that honors Tokyo’s rich cultural tapestry. This latest iteration is inspired by the traditional Japanese souvenir jackets known as Sukajan, which are iconic symbols of post-war Japan that blend Eastern and Western aesthetics.
The sneakers feature a satin-like upper with intricate embroidery. A majestic tiger graces the left shoe, symbolizing strength and courage, while a formidable dragon adorns the right shoe, representing wisdom and power. These detailed embroideries pay tribute to revered creatures in Japanese folklore and capture the essence of the nation’s artistry.
Premium leather accents enhance the design, with the signature Three Stripes and heel tab crafted from premium materials. The city name “Tokyo” is prominently displayed on the tongue and hang tag, emphasizing the deep connection to the influence and style of the capital city.
A sail tint sole adds a vintage touch and complements the classic shell toe that the Superstar line is known for. Contrasting red stitching along the midsole provides a subtle yet striking detail that unifies the aesthetic of the sneaker. The inclusion of a gum rubber outsole not only enhances traction, but also adds a contemporary element to the overall design.
Although an official release date has yet to be announced, the Adidas Superstar “Tokyo Sukajan” is expected to drop soon.
