Longines has launched the CONQUEST CHRONO SKI EDITION, a watch that combines robustness and elegance. Limited to 2,025 pieces, this chronograph pays tribute to the brand’s deep-rooted association with alpine skiing, a relationship that spans more than a century.
As Official Partner of the International Ski Federation (FIS), Longines has been an integral part of the world’s most prestigious alpine skiing events. The forthcoming 48th FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, to be held in Saalbach, Austria, from February 4 to 16, 2025, provides the perfect backdrop for this special release. The CONQUEST CHRONO SKI EDITION not only commemorates this important event, but also continues the legacy of the Conquest line, which has held a special place in the history of Longines since it was registered as a trademark in 1954.
The 42 mm stainless steel case, with its mix of polished and satinized surfaces, exudes sporty elegance. Its black ceramic insert and tachymetric bezel contribute to its contemporary look, while ensuring water resistance to 100 meters. The anthracite-colored dial contrasts with the black sub-dials at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock, all covered by a sapphire crystal with a multi-layer anti-reflective treatment for optimal clarity.
Attention to detail is evident in the polished rhodium-plated hour and minute hands, which are coated with Super-LumiNova® for visibility in low light conditions. Red accents on the central chronograph seconds hand and sub-seconds add a vibrant touch, echoing the red tachymeter scale on the bezel. These elements not only enhance readability, but also add a dynamic spirit to the design.
Turning the watch over reveals an engraved caseback featuring the emblem of the 48th FIS World Ski Championships 2025 – a skier in action. This artistic engraving, together with the inscriptions indicating the limited edition status, adds a layer of exclusivity and significance to the timepiece.
The CONQUEST CHRONO SKI EDITION is powered by the exclusive Longines caliber L898.5. This self-winding mechanical movement incorporates innovative components, including a silicon balance-spring that offers a magnetic resistance far superior to the standard requirements. With a power reserve of up to 59 hours, the watch guarantees the reliability and precision that are indispensable in both watchmaking and mountaineering.
Collectors and enthusiasts can choose between a stainless steel bracelet with a triple security folding clasp or a black rubber strap equipped with a micro-adjustment system for comfort and fit. Presented in a special black box, the watch embodies the fusion of functionality and style for which Longines is renowned.
The launch of the CONQUEST CHRONO SKI EDITION took place at the FIS Race Talk in Sölden on October 25, marking the start of the new ski season. Distinguished Longines Ski Ambassadors, including champions such as Marco Odermatt and Mikaela Shiffrin, were on hand to experience the timepiece first hand, underscoring its importance in the world of alpine skiing.
