Tekla and AURALEE have forged a remarkable partnership to unveil a limited collection inspired by the tranquil bathing rituals of Japanese onsens. This collaboration bridges Japanese and Scandinavian cultures, celebrating shared values and a mutual appreciation for the art of bathing.
The collection includes a thoughtfully curated selection of towels, sleepwear, outerwear and knit accessories. Each piece is designed to evoke the comforting experience of returning from an onsen on a chilly evening, and to capture the desire to carry its gentle warmth into everyday life. The designs are inspired by the rituals and environments associated with these traditional hot springs, reflecting both authenticity and innovation.
A standout feature is the “onsen-sized” towel, which is designed with a longer canvas label that allows it to be comfortably wrapped around the head or neck, a practical nod to common onsen practices. The color palette is influenced by the earthy tones of the regions where onsen naturally occur, adding depth and connection to the source of inspiration.
Both Tekla and AURALEE bring their expertise and commitment to quality to this collaboration. AURALEE’s mastery of fabric development shines through in the outerwear pieces, which are crafted from the finest fibers to ensure both elegance and functionality. Tekla contributes its renowned organic cotton poplin and terry fabrics to the sleepwear and towels, offering unparalleled comfort and softness.
Every piece in the collection is unisex, emphasizing inclusivity and versatility. The pieces are made to the highest standards in Portugal and Japan, embodying the meticulous craftsmanship for which both brands are renowned. This commitment to excellence ensures that each garment not only looks exquisite, but also stands the test of time.
The collection’s pricing reflects its premium quality, with sleepwear shirts starting at €225, sleepwear pants at €195 and boxer shorts at €70. Terry towels range from €14 for smaller sizes to €70 for larger sizes, catering to a variety of preferences. The down jacket, a highlight of the outerwear selection, is priced at €1,115, while the robe coat is offered at €1,210. Knitted accessories, including the night cap and night socks, are priced at €260 and €115 respectively.
This collaboration represents a meaningful convergence of ideas and traditions. By delving into the wellness practices of their respective cultures, Tekla and AURALEE have created a collection that goes beyond fashion. It invites wearers to experience a blend of comfort, style and cultural appreciation in their everyday lives.
The collection will launch on October 30, 2024 and will be available at AURALEE Tokyo, Tekla Copenhagen, their official websites and selected retail partners.
